Do Marines get time between there SOI and MOS schools?

My husband is joining the marine corps and i know after boot camp they have 10 days leave. Do they have to take the 10 days or can they save it? Also do they have time between SOI and arriving at the MOS? Reason I am asking is he will most likely (unless something changes) be attending the linguistic school in which case he could possibly get accompanied orders because the training is so long. I am curious if he would be able to come home and we go together or if they pretty much auto ship him from SOI East to Monetary, CA? Maybe he can use his "leave days" at that point in time instead if permitted? I know nothing with the service is guaranteed so i'm touching any bases i can thing of.
