I pushed the memory board in too hard, what happened?

I wanted to add memory to my e-machine, so I bought a 1 GB ddr memory bd. I tried to push it in the socket and it didn't go in, so I pushed harder. I finally got it in but now the computer won't come on. Nothing happens, no lights, fans or anything comes on. I think I pushed too hard and dammaged the mother board. Any ideas?
