What is the difference between an ionic compund and a molecular/covalent compound?

please help! I have a project and I have to name all these compounds as acidic, molecular/covalent, or ionic. I think ionic is when it contains a metal or 2 metals, but I'm not 100% positive. Thanks for the help, and I'll pick best answer! (:
