My new 89 honda prelude?

so i just bought this honda prelude for like 900 bucks. he said theres a fuel line problem but i could tell he really didnt know what the problem was. but this is what happens, when i come to a stop light it feels like the cars about to turn off and when i press on the gas theres no movement really just sputters. i have to like pump the gas pedal several times to hopefully maybe get the car going. also when im even driving it happens the sputters.i was wondering what this could be? maybe a fuel line or something???
